I finally stopped copying other people's bullet journal spreads

For about a year, I kept trying to recreate those perfect weekly layouts I saw online, using a ruler and three different pens. It took me 30 minutes every Sunday and I hated it. Last month, I just grabbed a pencil and scribbled a messy list for the week, and it worked better. Now my whole system is just rapid logging with a basic black pen. Has anyone else ditched the fancy setups for something simpler?

That "30 minutes every Sunday and I hated it" part is so real. I think we all get tricked by the perfect photos online. My fancy planner has been a glorified coaster for months. The scribbled list method just works because you actually do it instead of making art.

@miles_grant35 What finally made you give up on the fancy planner for good?

But what if the fancy setup is the whole point for some people? That thirty minutes can be a creative break, not a chore... it just depends on why you're doing it. For me, the act of making it look nice is what makes me want to open it and use it all week.
