Hot take: I think the minimalist spreads are overrated for actual planning

I was sitting at my kitchen table last Tuesday trying to set up a new monthly layout and got so caught up making it look clean and pretty that I forgot to actually add my appointments. Ended up missing a dentist visit because my fancy spread had no space for time slots. Does anyone else feel like the aesthetic layouts sometimes get in the way of just getting stuff down?

Yeah it's kind of like how people spend more time organizing their Spotify playlists than actually listening to music. The tools become the focus instead of what they're supposed to help you do. Maybe that's just part of how we trick ourselves into feeling productive without getting anything done.

Nah, the aesthetic is the whole point though, without it planning feels like a chore.
