Hot take: fancy washi tape is a waste of $30
I dropped $30 on a pack of premium Japanese washi tape from a shop in Portland thinking it would level up my monthly spreads. Turns out the cheap $5 rolls from the craft store stick just as well and look basically identical. Am I the only one who thinks the markup on these tapes is just for the fancy packaging?

Honestly it's wild how much of that price is just the branding and the cute packaging. The adhesive quality on the cheap stuff is basically the same after a few days, and the patterns are just as pretty. I've bought a few of those premium rolls and honestly the only difference I noticed was the paper felt slightly thinner, which isn't really a plus when you're trying to layer it. Ngl, I think the real scam is the limited edition collabs they drop - $12 for a single roll with a cat wearing a hat? Hard pass.
