Color coding my habit tracker saved me from a big mess

I kept mixing up my water intake and exercise columns last month and it wrecked my data. Finally tried using specific colors for each category, not just random pink and blue. Now I use red for health, green for finances, and blue for work tasks. Makes it SO much easier to spot patterns at a glance without rereading labels. Does anyone else have a color system that actually sticks?

Totally agree with you on that color system and @grant_perry is right about our brains grabbing colors faster than words. I had the same problem with my habit tracker where I kept logging water in the wrong spot until I went full color coded. I use bright yellow for anything health related like water and sleep, red for urgent stuff like deadlines, and blue for money things. What really helped me was putting a little color key sticker on the front of my notebook so I don't have to think about it at all. It saved me from so many mistakes that would throw off my weekly totals.

Heard a psychologist on a podcast say our brains latch onto colors way faster than text labels, so you're onto something. I use a similar setup with orange for health stuff like water and vitamins, yellow for creative writing goals, and purple for personal reading. The key for me was keeping it simple with just 4 colors max. After that it gets too busy and I start second guessing what's what.
