Warning: the $40 junkyard alternator I rebuilt for my 92 Civic outlasted the $180 parts store one
Pulled an alternator off a wrecked Civic at a yard outside Fresno 8 months ago for 40 bucks and put new brushes and a bearing in it on my bench. The reman one I paid $180 for at the parts store died at month 7, right in a parking lot off Blackstone. I swapped the junkyard unit back in and it's been charging at 14.4 volts ever since. Anyone else had better luck with a rebuilt yard part than a store reman?
