Appreciation post: a $4 pool noodle saved my custom loop from a leak test disaster
I built my first hardline loop 8 months ago in my garage here in Boise and did the whole air leak test like everyone says, but I still got a slow drip at a fitting. A guy at the local parts shop told me to cut a pool noodle lengthwise and lay it under every fitting before I fill, so any drip shows up right away instead of running down into my GPU. I tried it on my second build and caught a loose compression ring in under a minute that would've soaked my card overnight. Now I keep two noodles in my toolbox and cut fresh pieces every time I test. Anyone else got a cheap trick like that for leak testing, or am I the only one buying pool noodles in December?
