Used to think zip ties were the only way for cable management. Now I'm team velcro and never going back.

For like 5 years I zipped everything tight behind my build, thinking it looked clean. Then last month I swapped a GPU and had to cut like 15 ties off, scratching a fan blade in the process. Switched to 50 cent velcro straps from a hardware store and now I can reroute stuff in 2 minutes flat. Anyone else ditch zip ties for something simpler?

exact same thing happened to me, @craig.parker, that scratching noise is the worst. I was swapping my old HDD for an SSD and sliced my finger on a cut zip tie end trying to get the drive bay out. now I only use the long velcro strips from home depot, the ones that come in a roll. I can loop them through anything and they hold just as tight without leaving those sharp little nubs everywhere. never going back to the plastic stuff.

Velcro is the ONLY way to go. I used to think zip ties were permanent too until I had to tear half my build apart to swap a drive. That scratching sound is brutal, I know exactly what you mean. Now I keep a pack of velcro straps in my PC toolbox and it's night and day. Never looking back at those plastic traps either.
