Took me 3 nights to find a bad standoff causing random shutdowns
Built a new rig back in March for my sim setup in Columbus. It would run fine for an hour then just cut out, no BSOD, no error logs. I swapped the PSU, tested the RAM with MemTest86, reseated the GPU twice. On the third night I finally pulled the whole motherboard out and noticed one brass standoff under the bottom left corner was slightly taller than the rest. It was shorting the board's ground plane whenever the case flexed from the GPU weight. Five minutes with a different standoff and it's been solid for 6 weeks. How many of you check standoff heights before you even put the board in? I never did before this.
