The $9 fan splitter that finally fixed my daisy chain mess
Friend of mine who builds servers for a living kept telling me to stop daisy chaining fans off one header. Said the current draw was risky and the PWM signal gets wonky after two or three. I figured he was being dramatic, but after my third fan started clicking at idle in my Fractal case, I caved and ordered a powered splitter from Amazon for like $9. Took ten minutes to rewire everything and now all six fans spin at the same speed, no more weird ramp up and down. Also my motherboard software actually reads the RPMs now instead of showing zero. Anyone else run into weird fan behavior from cheap daisy chains, or is it just me?

Had one die on me mid-LAN party once, whole rig just went quiet and my temps spiked like crazy. Took me an hour to figure out it was the splitter not the fans, they were all fine. Splitter's cheap insurance honestly, beats chasing a weird intermittent click every time.
