Dropped $40 on a magnetic screw tray and I finally get why people swear by them
I always figured a magnetic parts tray was one of those things you buy when you have more money than sense. I mean, it's a little dish with a magnet in it. How much help could it really be. Then last week I was doing a full teardown on my old build to swap the board and clean everything out, and I lost one of the tiny m.2 standoff screws on my carpet. Spent 25 minutes on my hands and knees with a flashlight looking for it. My buddy had given me a $40 magnetic tray for my birthday back in March and it was still sitting in the box. I finally opened it, stuck it to the side of my case, and dropped every screw onto it as I took them out. Nothing rolled, nothing bounced, nothing vanished into carpet. The whole rebuild went faster than any build I've ever done. Now I keep it clamped to my desk and I'm honestly mad at myself for waiting this long to use it. Anyone else got a cheap tool or part that you put off trying and then felt dumb about?
