Why does nobody talk about how much meal kits actually cost per serving?
Tbh I finally sat down and added up what I spend on HelloFresh for a family of three. It came out to like $13 a serving after delivery fees and tips. I figured I could beat that by just hitting the grocery store with a list. Last week I planned five dinners for $42 total at Aldi in Denver. That is less than $3 a serving for pretty much the same stuff. Has anyone else actually compared their meal kit receipts to a regular grocery run?

It's wild how meal kits basically charge you for the convenience of not having to walk through a grocery store. I see this same pattern everywhere, people paying a premium to skip the smallest bit of effort. Like those pre chopped veggie packs at the store cost double what a whole head of broccoli goes for. Good on you for actually running the numbers, most folks just assume they're getting a deal because the box shows up at their door. Does Aldi have a bigger price gap in Denver compared to other cities or is it pretty standard?

Hate to say it but you're totally right lol. I've been guilty of dropping cash on those pre-cut veggies more times than I wanna admit, all because I'm too lazy to chop an onion for 30 seconds. And yeah, the Aldi thing here in Denver is legit, the price gap is actually bigger than what I've seen in other cities. Like you can practically hear the cash registers crying when you walk from their store to a King Soopers down the street, it's that wild.
