That time a random commenter called out my grocery budget and I actually listened
I was posting my monthly budget numbers in a frugal group and someone said you're spending 900 a month on food for two people that's way too high for Kroger. I got defensive at first but then I looked at my receipts and realized I was buying pre-cut veggies and those expensive bagged salads every week. Swapped to whole heads of lettuce and a knife and now I'm down to around 650 a month without eating worse. Has anyone else had a stranger's blunt comment actually fix a blind spot in their spending?

It builds on itself too. Once I started buying whole produce, I noticed I was wasting less because I actually prepped it right away instead of letting bags go bad in the fridge. That saved another chunk off the monthly bill without me even trying to cut anything else.

Ain't that just how everything good in life works when you finally get the ball rolling?
