Splurge or save on groceries? My $72 mistake at Whole Foods

I hit Whole Foods last Tuesday and grabbed all organic stuff, ended up $72 over budget just for a week of meals. My usual Aldi run would have been half that. Do you guys think organic is worth the extra cash or just a marketing trick?

Right, but are we talking the actual organic produce or the packaged stuff? I feel like there's a huge difference between paying extra for organic spinach that wilts in two days (the worst) and splurging on organic peanut butter that's literally just peanuts and salt. Like, what exactly was in the cart that put you over? Because I'd be way more willing to pay extra for the Dirty Dozen fruits and veggies where the pesticide thing actually matters versus getting tricked into buying organic pasta, which is just pasta.

so my friend tom went to whole foods for the first time last month and walked out with a bag of organic quinoa and a tiny jar of honey, $40 gone just like that lol. @wrenstone you're totally right about the packaged stuff, he said the quinoa tasted the same as the bulk bin stuff from sprouts but cost triple. i think organic produce makes sense for stuff like strawberries but everything else is just a wallet tax lmao.
