Rant: My $60 thrift store fridge died after 3 months

I bought this old Frigidaire from a guy in Portland for $60 thinking it was a steal. It worked okay until last week when the compressor just quit on me mid-afternoon and all my food went bad. Ended up borrowing a friend's truck and hauling it to the dump, which cost me another $20 in gas. Anyone else get burned by a 'deal' on used appliances that turned out to be a money pit?

Own it for what it was. You paid $60 for a fridge and it lasted three whole months, that's basically $20 a month for cold food which is dirt cheap compared to renting a new one. The dump fee and gas suck but you still came out way ahead compared to buying a brand new fridge that would cost you hundreds upfront.

Toss a few silica packs in there next time, helps with the condensation.
