Question about a weird thing that happened at the grocery store
I was at the Kroger on 5th Street, just grabbing a few things. The cashier scanned my items and the total was $78. I looked at my cart and realized half of it was just snacks I didn't need. I put all the snacks back right there at the register. My new total was $41. Now I make a strict list and don't even go down the snack aisles. Anyone else have a moment that broke a bad spending habit?

That exact thing happened to me at Target last month. I had a cart full of home decor knick-knacks that added up to over a hundred bucks. Putting it all back on that little counter felt silly but it was a real wake-up call. Now I notice it everywhere, like how my online cart fills up with stuff I just leave there for a week. That moment of seeing the total makes you question what you actually need versus what just caught your eye.

My cart's just a wish list I never buy.

Did you see that study about how the average person lets like $200 worth of stuff rot in their online carts every month? It's wild how our brains treat shopping like a fantasy league instead of a transaction. I read somewhere that putting things in a cart actually gives you a little dopamine hit like you bought it, so your brain goes "cool I already did that" and you move on. My own shopping cart on Amazon is basically a time capsule of random interests I had at 2am last Tuesday.
