Overheard my neighbor bragging about cutting his grocery budget to $50 a week by only eating ramen.

He was super proud, but honestly, that's not a win, it's just being cheap and unhealthy. I budget $100 a week for food and still eat real meals by planning around sales at the local Kroger. Isn't the point of budgeting to improve your life, not just make the number as small as possible?

Remember when that guy tried to live on just potatoes for a month?

Oh man, I remember that. It actually reminds me of my buddy Kevin who tried to do the same thing back in college. He lasted about two weeks on nothing but baked potatoes and felt so weak he could barely walk to class. By day 10 he was craving anything with flavor, even plain rice sounded amazing.
