My grocery budget dropped $60 a week after I stopped shopping at the big chain store and started hitting the local Mexican market in my neighborhood.
Six months ago I walked into El Rancho out of desperation because my usual store was closed, and I noticed a pack of chicken thighs was literally half the price, plus the produce section had stuff I'd never seen before and it actually lasted longer in the fridge has anyone else had luck switching to a smaller ethnic market for regular shopping?

Hate to say it but I HAVE been there. I switched to a little Asian market near my house and it cut my meat bill almost in half, plus the veggies are way fresher. Makes you wonder why the big chains charge so much for stuff that goes bad in two days. I tell everyone I know who's struggling with grocery prices to just try one of these smaller places, even if it feels weird at first. It's a total game changer and I'm never going back to that other store.

I mean, "almost half" sounds pretty good, but is it really that serious? Like, I go to the big store and the meat's fine, veggies last a few days if you're careful. Not sure I'd switch my whole life over it.
