I finally stopped splitting my groceries into two trips after my neighbor Rosa did the math on gas
Rosa pointed out that my twice a week runs to the Kroger over on 5th were burning about $9 in gas each trip, so I switched to one big haul every 10 days and put that $70 a month straight into my car fund, and now I want to know if anyone else has done the math on how much their errand habit actually costs.

The "$9 in gas each trip" thing got me thinking about my own runs. I used to hit three different stores because each one had cheaper stuff on different items, but I never counted the driving between them. Started writing down every stop for a month and it came out to almost $60 in gas just for errands. Now I do one store, one trip, and if something's a dollar more there I just eat it. Turns out chasing the cheapest price at four stores was costing me more than the savings.
