Found a weird veggie prep trick that cut my grocery bill by $30 a week

I kept tossing half my produce because it would go bad before I got around to cooking it. Turns out, chopping everything up and freezing it right after buying (like a Sunday meal prep session in Chicago) keeps it fresh for weeks. Now I just grab frozen peppers or onions straight from the freezer for stir-fries, no waste at all. Has anyone else tried freezing pre-cut veggies or is that just me?

...and I say this as someone who once bought a whole head of cauliflower with big plans and found it six weeks later looking like a science experiment in the back of my fridge. So yeah, I'm all in on the freezing thing now. My trick is to chop up bell peppers and onions right when I get home from the store, then lay them flat on a baking sheet in the freezer for a few hours before bagging them up. That way they don't clump together, and I can just grab a handful for omelets or chili without defrosting a giant block of ice. It's honestly saved my wallet more times than I can count, even if I still occasionally find a forgotten bag of zucchini that's turned into a frosty brick.

@theawest, you make it sound so easy until you grab what you think are peppers and end up with spicy frozen onion mush.
