Bought a $40 slow cooker from a yard sale and it saved my week
I got it last month thinking I'd make a few soups, but then my car needed a surprise $300 repair. I lived off that thing, making huge pots of beans and cheap cuts of meat. It probably made 15 meals for less than $25 total. Who knew a dusty old appliance could be such a lifesaver? Has anyone else had a cheap buy turn into a major budget hero?

Honestly the best part is how it makes cheap meat edible. That tough chuck roast? Eight hours later it falls apart. I used to think you needed a fancy Dutch oven for that. My old rice cooker was a close second, I'd make a whole pot of rice and throw a can of beans on top for like three days of lunches.

Totally get that, my rice cooker was my best friend in college.
