Warning: People still think you need a hotel in the city center

I mean, I see folks planning trips to Rome and booking a room near the Colosseum for like 200 euros a night. I stayed in a quiet neighborhood called Trastevere last year, a 20 minute walk away, for 65 euros. The local tram got me everywhere fast and I ate where the locals did. Has anyone else found a better spot by looking just outside the main tourist zone?

That 20 minute walk is a huge waste of time when you're tired.

My friend Mark felt the same way as @dianab68 until he tried it last week. He said that walk actually cleared his head better than a nap. Sometimes the thing we resist the most is exactly what we need.

Oh I feel this so hard (my couch has permanent indent from my tired self). But honestly, last week I dragged myself out for a walk and tripped over nothing in my own driveway - so at least I got a free slapstick comedy show out of it. If nothing else, the walk gives my brain a chance to stop making terrible decisions about what to eat for dinner, which is a win in my book.
