Pro tip: I was buying plane tickets at the worst possible time and didn't know it
For years I booked flights the second I saw a price I liked, usually on a Monday night after work. Then a gate agent in Charlotte mentioned that airlines drop new fares early Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, and I checked the same route I'd been watching, Denver to Tampa, and it was $62 cheaper at 6am Wednesday than the $188 I paid Monday night. Now I set an alarm and book before coffee, but I'm wondering if there's an even better day or window I'm missing.
