I've come around on skipping travel insurance
Everyone says to cut costs by avoiding insurance, but I learned the hard way. A missed flight due to illness would have bankrupted me without it.

My buddy got food poisoning in Mexico and his bill was like $800 USD. He almost had a heart attack RIGHT there at the front desk. Never travels without insurance now.
