Hotel breakfast trick I stumbled on in Phoenix last month

I booked a motel that didn't serve breakfast thinking I'd save like $15 a night. Turned out they had a deal with a diner two blocks away where you show your room key and get a free pancake plate. Now I always ask the front desk about local partnerships before I assume there's no food.
