Hot take: I tracked every dollar I spent on a 2 week trip to Mexico and the number that got me was $47 on random fees

Ngl I thought I was being smart booking hostels and eating street tacos. But the real killer was all those little things like ATM withdrawal fees, currency exchange markups, and baggage fees. I added it up yesterday and $47 just disappeared into nothing. That's like 3 days of food for me down there. Has anyone else looked at their hidden costs and gotten mad about how much they add up?

I mean, $47 over two weeks is like three bucks a day, not exactly life-ruining money if you ask me. @finley939 I get that the fees add up, but you probably would have spent a lot more than $47 on upgraded hotels or whatever if you weren't being budget-conscious. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like people get way more worked up about a few bucks than the actual experience of the trip.
