Hit $500 in travel rewards from credit card signups this year and it feels like cheating

I tracked every dollar I spent on signup bonuses and referral points across 3 cards. $500 covered a round trip to Denver I wouldn't have booked otherwise. Anyone else surprised by how fast those bonuses stack up?

Feels like I'm gaming the system until I remember I spent $700 on random stuff I didn't need to hit those minimum spends.
