DAE try using only a carry-on for long vacations?
I packed just a carry-on for a two-week vacation. It cut costs on luggage fees, but I had trouble fitting everything. What are your tricks for minimal packing?

Packing for a 10-day trip to Spain with just a carry-on seemed impossible at first... I used to bring a huge suitcase for every vacation. But rolling clothes tight instead of folding them changed everything for me. Sticking to mostly black and gray items let me mix and match outfits easily. I also wore my heaviest shoes and jacket on the plane to save room. Now I can't imagine going back to checking a bag, even for long trips.

Seems like a lot of work just to avoid checking a bag, @kevin110.

Rolling clothes is a game changer, but what about bulky stuff like jeans or sweaters... they still eat up so much space. @troybell has a point about it being a lot of work, but I'm with @kevin110 on never going back. Do you pack any of those vacuum storage bags, the ones you roll to squeeze the air out? I tried them once and they were a mess, but maybe I got a bad brand. Curious if anyone found a good way to handle the really thick items without just wearing them on the plane.
