That $200 harbor freight engine stand nearly killed my project

Bought their 1-ton stand to hold a small block Chevy and the locking pin sheared off after 20 minutes, dropped the whole thing on my garage floor. Has anyone else had cheap stands fail on them or did I just get a lemon?

Honestly my luck with harbor freight is usually worse than yours and I once had a jack stand hide under my car like it was playing tag.

Is it really that serious though, @nora10? Like sure Harbor Freight stuff can be sketchy but a jack stand playing hide and seek sounds more like a setup issue than a tool problem. Ive used their jack stands for years and never had one try to run off on me.
