Swapped from junkyard parts to rockauto and my wallet is happier

I used to spend every weekend crawling through the local pick-n-pull in Phoenix, digging through rusted cars for a good alternator or water pump. It was fun for a while, but I wasted so much time and gas for stuff that often failed within a month. Last year, after the third bad alternator in a row, I just ordered a remanufactured one from rockauto for $45 shipped. That part has been running solid for 8 months now, no issues. Sure, you lose the thrill of the hunt, but I figure I save about 3 hours and $20 in gas each time. Plus, the parts have a warranty, so I don't have to cross my fingers every time I turn the key. Anyone else switch from the yard to online and never looked back?

yeah but how often were you actually finding usable parts in the first place? i spent a whole summer doing the same thing and half the time the "good" alternator i pulled was clearly on its way out anyway.
