Stumbled across an old forum post from 2001 about rebuilding a Honda B18 on $500
Some guy in Sacramento laid out step by step how he did a full bottom end rebuild with junkyard parts and a harbor freight torque wrench, and it got me thinking about how we used to just make stuff work without YouTube or specialty tools. I miss that attitude of figuring it out with what you had - has anyone else noticed how the community has shifted from resourcefulness to just asking where to buy the right part?

That dude in Sacramento probably had to tear apart 3 blocks at the junkyard just to find one good piston ring. How much of that old school resourcefulness was really about money vs just not having a million choices thrown at you every time you open google?
