Hit 100,000 miles on my $600 Cherokee right as the odometer broke

I bought this 1998 Jeep Cherokee for $600 back in March, mostly because the guy wanted it gone before his HOA fined him again. Last Tuesday I was driving home from work in Columbus and watched the odometer roll over to 100,000 miles, then the whole cluster went dark and the needle dropped. Turns out the speed sensor died, which also kills the odometer, and a used one cost me $22 at the local Pick-n-Pull. I had been planning to celebrate that milestone with a cheap oil change and a fresh air filter, but instead I spent the afternoon in a junkyard parking lot swapping a sensor with a 10mm socket. The crazy part is the engine runs so smooth that 100k feels like a starting line, not a finish. Has anyone else had a fun surprise when their car hit a big number, or am I the only one whose dash decided to quit at the exact same moment?
