Fixed my trunk leak thanks to a guy at the junkyard

I spent like 4 months trying to seal a water leak in my 2001 Camry's trunk. Was using silicone caulk around the taillight gaskets and it kept failing. Guy at Pull-A-Part in Phoenix saw me buying my third tube and asked if I ever replaced the actual gasket. I just bought a used one for $5 and swapped it in last weekend. Has anyone else had trunk leaks that drove them crazy before you figured out the real fix?

Wait, you went through three tubes of caulk before somebody told you about the actual gasket? That's almost impressive.

Man that's rough, three tubes is a lot of wasted silicone. That junkyard guy probably saved you a ton of time and frustration. Glad you finally squared it away though, those Camry trunk leaks are sneaky.
