Wasted $35 on fancy olive oil for one recipe

I bought a small bottle of expensive olive oil last week just for a salad dressing recipe I saw online. Turns out regular olive oil from the store brand works exactly the same. Anyone else fall for the hype on cooking ingredients?

And you're wrong honestly. There's a massive difference between a $35 bottle of single estate stuff and the jug of store brand. I did a side by side tasting once and the cheap stuff just tastes like oil, the good stuff has actual flavor you can taste even after it hits the greens. You get what you pay for with olives same as wine.

Yeah the cheap stuff is better suited for greasing a pan than eating raw.
