Tried to save $8 by making my own tortillas. Ended up with frisbees.
Last Sunday I was dead set on cutting costs. Store tortillas are cheap but I thought hey, flour and water costs pennies. Watched a 2 minute video and felt like a pro. Yeah no. First batch came out like hockey pucks. Second batch stuck to the pan and turned into a floury mess. After 3 tries and an hour of my life I spent $4 on a pack of store tortillas anyway. Anyone else have a "saving money" project that backfired immediately?

Wait, you actually went through three batches before giving up? Tbh that's some serious dedication for something that was supposed to save you like four bucks.

Oh man, three batches is nothing compared to some people I know - my neighbor went through like eight trying to make his own laundry soap and ended up with a gooey mess that smelled like wet dog. But here's what I'm wondering @ellis.charles: was it really just about saving four bucks, or was there some weird pride thing driving you? Because I've seen folks at the hardware store spend twenty bucks on supplies to fix a ten dollar problem and call it "learning," you know? Like, did you actually enjoy the process of making it from scratch, or were you dead set on proving something to yourself? I'm genuinely curious if the satisfaction came from the making or if it was purely about sticking it to store prices.
