Shoutout to the guy at Aldi who told me I was wasting money on pre-cut veggies
I used to buy those pre-cut veggie trays for like $5 a pop cause I thought they were a good deal. Last week some old dude in line behind me goes "you know you can get a whole head of broccoli for 88 cents and chop it in 2 minutes right?" I kinda laughed it off but then I actually did the math - I've been paying almost 4x more just to not use a knife. Been chopping my own for a week now and honestly it takes maybe 3 extra minutes. Has anyone else had that moment where you realize a "convenience" food is just a total ripoff?

Chill, it's five bucks not five hundred.

Grabbed a pre-cut veggie tray last month and @gonzalez.anna would've laughed at how proud I was of myself. Took it home, dumped it in a stir fry, and realized three of the florets were already turning brown. So I paid extra for the privilege of throwing away a third of the package. Now I just buy a whole head of broccoli, chop it up while watching YouTube, and feel like some kind of kitchen wizard for saving maybe two bucks. My knife skills are still terrible though, I've cut myself twice this week alone.
