Question about dried beans versus canned for chili
I made chili with canned beans for years, but switching to a bag of dried pintos saved me about $2.50 per batch. Does anyone think the extra time to soak them isn't worth the savings?

Honestly, the savings add up fast. A bag of dried beans costs what, a dollar? That's like three cans right there. I just throw them in a bowl before bed and they're ready by dinner. The texture is better too, they don't turn to mush. Totally worth the tiny bit of planning.

Yeah, it's the same with a lot of basic stuff. You pay for the convenience of it being ready right now. @lewis.diana has it right with the overnight soak, it's just a different kind of work. You trade ten minutes of planning for the hour of wage work it takes to earn that $2.50 back.
