Pro tip: went with bulk beans over canned for chili last month

Bought a 5-pound bag of dried pinto beans for $4 at the grocery store in Austin instead of $2 a can, and after soaking and cooking them myself I saved enough to cover my gas bill for the week, anyone else made the switch?

Gotta disagree, those dried beans were a pain to soak and still came out uneven.

Used to swear by dried beans but your point about evenness makes total sense now.
