Pro tip: my $3 lentil soup in a Boston winter

Used a ham bone from the holiday, simmered it for hours. Anyone else have a go-to bone broth trick?

Wait, a ham bone for three bucks? Where are you finding that? The bone alone costs more than that around here.

Oh, I think Paige might have read it wrong. The original post says the whole pot of soup cost about three dollars, not just the bone. The ham bone was a leftover from a holiday meal, so it was basically free. The lentils and veggies are what make it so cheap. That's the real trick, using a leftover bone you already have. Do you save bones from roasts or chicken in your freezer?
