Paid $12 for a bag of dried beans and thought it was a ripoff until I got 8 meals out of it
Made a big pot of chili with that same bag and some canned tomatoes from Aldi, fed myself for a week and a half on maybe $20 total, has anyone else gotten burned by assuming pre-made stuff is cheaper?

And people still act like cooking from scratch is crazy expensive when it's literally pennies per meal.

Right? People are so used to convenience they forget what real cooking costs. A bag of rice, a few veggies, some beans - you can eat for days on a few bucks. But everyone's so busy running around they'd rather grab fast food than spend 20 minutes stirring a pot. This whole "cooking is expensive" thing is just an excuse people tell themselves to justify the drive-thru habit.
