My sister's $3 trick for stretching ground beef was dead wrong
My sister swore adding a cup of water and a spoon of bouillon to a pound of ground beef would make it fluff up to feed 6 people, but it just turned into gray mush that tasted like soup gone bad. Ended up dumping half of it because the texture was awful, and I went back to using lentils mixed in at a 1:2 ratio which actually works. Anyone else been burned by a family member's 'money saver' that just ruins dinner?
Water in ground beef is a crime. All you get is steamed gray sadness with no browning, and browning is where ALL the flavor lives. Lentils work because they actually soak up the beef fat and hold their shape instead of turning to paste. Your sister owes you an apology and a pound of beef.
