My mother in law told me my chili was 'soupy' so I had to change everything
She said it at Thanksgiving dinner in front of everyone. I was mad at first but she was right. I used to dump a whole can of diced tomatoes plus the juice into my chili. Now I drain the can first and only add half the liquid. Had to adjust my spice levels too since I was losing some of the seasoning in the drained juice. It actually tastes way better now and costs less since I don't burn through as much chili powder. Anyone else get cooking advice from a family member that actually worked?

Lol "soupy chili" is such a specific roast but honestly it sounds like she was looking out for you. I had a similar thing with my grandma and my gravy game she told me my turkey was "sad and pale" so I had to learn how to actually baste the thing. Now I can't even go back to my old way of just throwing everything in a pot and hoping for the best. It stings to admit a family member was right but hey I'll take less watery chili over my pride any day.
