My grandma's Sunday pot roast went from $12 to $28 over 15 years

I remember helping her shop for it back in 2008 at the grocery store near her place in Nashville. Chuck roast was like $3 a pound. Potatoes and carrots were nothing. Now I look at the same cut and it's more than double. Is it just inflation or did beef get way pricier faster than everything else? What meat do you guys cook now that used to be the cheap option?

Man that really hits home, doesn't it? I noticed the same thing with my own grandma's pot roast recipe a few years back and it honestly made me sad. Beef just shot up way faster than everything else, especially chuck and brisket which used to be the cheap cuts everyone bought. I've switched to cooking a lot more pork shoulder and whole chickens now since they haven't gone up nearly as bad and still make a good Sunday dinner.

Bet you didn't think you'd be swapping grandma's pot roast for pork shoulder in 2024, @jackson.sarah.
