My aunt swore by freezing leftover tomato paste in ice cube trays

I always thought she was being cheap for no reason until I threw away half a can for the third time last week. Each cube is about a tablespoon and it saves me from buying those little tubes that cost $2 each at the grocery store. Anyone else do something similar with their leftover ingredients?

Bet it works great for pesto too since you never use the whole jar.

Honestly 3 out of 5 times I end up tossing half a jar of pesto that's gone bad in the back of the fridge. So yeah this would actually help me use it up before it turns into science experiment. How do you usually store the leftover pesto cubes after you freeze them? Like do you just throw them all in one bag or keep them separated by serving size?
