Bought a $2 bag of lentils because I was out of meat, never going back

I always assumed lentils were bland punishment food, but a 30 minute simmer with some onion and a bouillon cube made a better filling dinner than the $8 chicken I usually grab. Anyone else find a random pantry staple that beat their usual cheap protein?

Wait, you're telling me a 30 minute simmer beat an $8 chicken? That's wild. I've been burning through ground beef like it's my job and here you are with a bag of literal pennies having a better dinner. I'm honestly mad I've been sleeping on this. Next time I see lentils on sale I'm grabbing three bags just to see what the hype is about. That bouillon cube trick is a game changer too, I usually just boil them in water like a fool.
