Am I the only one who thought rice and beans was boring until I did the math on my grocery bill?
I always rolled my eyes when people said rice and beans could carry you through the week, figured it was just something broke folks say to feel better. Then last month I added up what I was spending on lunch alone, like $11 a day at the deli near my shop in Akron, and it came out to almost $240 a month. So I bought a 10 lb bag of rice for $8 and a few cans of beans for $1 each, cooked a big pot on Sunday, and ate it with hot sauce and whatever veggies were on sale. It's been 3 weeks and I'm not even mad about it, which shocks me. What's your go to spice or mix in to keep it from getting old?
