TIL a 50 cent rubber band stopped my laptop charger from dying every 3 months
My charger plug kept bending right where it meets the brick, and after buying my 4th one in a row I was about to give up and just tape it. Then a guy at a repair counter in Tampa showed me how to loop a rubber band around the plug head and hook it to the brick so the bend point never gets stressed. Has anyone else tried this, or do you have a better fix that doesn't look like garbage?
Rolled my eyes so hard when I first saw this trick floating around because I figured it was just another hack that would snap off in a week. Then my roommate's charger died mid paper and she rigged one up with a hair tie and that thing outlasted my fancy braided cable by like five months. I finally tried it on my own brick last fall and the plug has stayed straight ever since, no more weird flickering when I shift my legs. It looks kind of silly but I stopped caring once I realized I was blowing forty bucks a year on replacements. Sometimes the dumb cheap fix just wins.
