The guy at the Springfield swap meet sold me a $10 drill press and then called me 2 weeks later
Bought a rusty drill press off a guy named Walt at the Springfield swap meet for $10 back in April, mostly as a joke since the chuck wobbled like crazy. He threw in a box of bits and said 'she just needs love,' which I figured was swap meet talk for 'she's dead.' Two weeks later he calls my cell, says he found the missing table crank in his garage and asks if I still had the machine, then drove 40 minutes to my place just to drop it off for free. We ended up spending an hour in my garage while he showed me how to true the chuck with a dial gauge and a brass shim from a soda can. The press runs straight now and I use it almost every weekend, and Walt still texts me pictures of random tools he finds at estate sales. Has anyone else had a cheap buy turn into a weird ongoing friendship like that?
