Just had my $12 radiator hose clamp let go on the highway, fix it roadside or tow it?

Blew apart on I-40 outside Flagstaff last Tuesday and I limped it to a gas station with the temp gauge pegged. Am I dumb for wanting to cut a new clamp from a hose I keep in the trunk, or should I just eat the $150 tow?
