Why does nobody talk about wetting the brick before laying it in summer heat
I watched a guy lay a face wall in 95 degree heat last Tuesday in Fresno and every brick went down dry off the pallet. By the time he got to the third course the mortar was crusting before he could tap it level, and two bricks in he was fighting every joint. I started dunking my bricks in a bucket for a few seconds before setting them and the mortar stopped sucking dry so fast, it held its tack and my joints came out way cleaner. It costs about 10 seconds per brick but saves way more time on cleanup and re-setting. Does anyone here have a cutoff temp where you stop laying face work or do you just slow down and keep going?
