The homeowner who wanted me to "feel" the level
I was on a job in Akron last summer, laying a garden wall for this older guy who came out to chat every 15 minutes. He kept asking me to stop using my spirit level and just "feel" if the bricks were straight with my hands. After the third time he asked, I put the level down and tried it his way, and the whole row ended up a quarter inch off by the time I got to the end. Anyone else ever had a customer try to change how you work halfway through a job?

The quarter inch off thing is rough but not surprising. What gets me is this guy asked you three times to put down a proven tool and go by touch instead. That's like telling a chef to stop using a thermometer on a roast and just poke it with their finger a few times. Made my eye twitch just reading it. Hope you charged him extra for the rework. At least now you know not to take advice from someone whose best idea is guessing on a level.

That's like using a blindfolded guy as your spotter on a pool table or something.
